While the temperature continues to rise and people start to head off on exciting adventures and holidays, it can feel like you are ‘stuck’ if you aren’t going away. Staying at home doesn’t have to be boring and a drag; make the most of your time this summer with these tips:
– Don’t forget about the extra money you’ll save by not jetting off on a holiday (even if you spend a little extra on outings
-Make a family bucket list of everything you want to do during summer and tick off each activity as you get them done.
-Get into some DIY projects; paint the house, make your own slime, build a super amazing Lego house or create something creative that takes a few days
-Take some time to sort out the back of the cupboards and drop off unwanted clothes and toys at your local charity and give back to your community
-Have some water play to cool down and make a resort in your own backyard, get the sprinkler out, a blow-up pool, a sun lounger (with a shade umbrella) and enjoy splashing about
-Get the kids cooking in the kitchen – take the time to enjoy creating delicious food together. These memories of cooking in the kitchen with you will stay with your child for years to come
-Take time to enjoy reading together and fall in love with stories. With lots of extra time, use some to read more, read a book together or chill out in the same space when reading as individuals.
-Find the educational TV shows and learn something new together. National Geographic, Animal Planet and Discovery Channel are all great.
-Have 60 minutes of active exercise each day as a family, perhaps do some dancing to your favourite tunes, go for a swim, find an adventure playground or set up your own circuit at home (e.g. jump over two pillows, crawl under the table, run around the chair, tip toe around the table and start again)
-Invite friends around who are also staying put and enjoy some time to play and hang out
-Visit your local museums and galleries and make the most of the lack of crowds and lines
-Do at least one thing that you’ve always wanted to do. It can be anything, big or small. Make the most of the time that you’ve got.
-Set some learning goals to keep up their education in summer, perhaps a journal for writing each day, a game using maths, some science experiments and some creative outlets.
-Visit the indoor activities with AC, go ice-skating, visit an aquarium, go to a butterfly house, see a film, go to an indoor play centre or visit Ski Dubai
-Make the most of the cheap hotel deals with a staycation. During summer, most hotels have huge discounts, making them the perfect staycation to break up your summer.
