Best babymoon destinations!

Best babymoon destinations!

Travelling while pregnant is, for the most part, absolutely and utterly fine. So, how to pick your babymoon destinations?

Know where NOT to go

You might want to avoid Zika, of course, that pesky and noisy little mosquito that buzzes around some of the world’s most desirable holiday destinations. This means that the Caribbean is a no-go, and Indonesia might be out. You also don’t want to have to be taking malaria prophylactics which rules out much of Africa sadly.

What does your doctor say?

If your doctor says that you’re declared fit to travel, then now is the time to have one last romantic blow-out. Make sure travel to a un-child-friendly destination (Venetian bridges are not fun to conquer with a stroller, and all that unfenced (and rather unhygienic) water is trouble waiting to happen.

Babymoon destinations:

Choose a posh adult-only resort that you certainly won’t be able to set foot in for the next 20 years or so.  Now is the time to fly somewhere that will seem silly expensive once you have multiple airfares to buy for the entire family, and this, by the way, is the true definition of a babymoon. We have listed a few of our personal favorites, conveniently positioned when you are based in the Middle East.

Marrakech

If you want a foreign destination that exceeds on impressions but doesn’t take too long to get to, then Marrakech should make it to the top of your list.  Spice up that Instagram feed with the brightest colors of El Fenn, the famous resort owned by Richard Branson’s sister Vanessa.

Aarhus, Denmark

Denmark’s second-largest city sits on the east coast of the airy lush Jutland peninsula and is an excellent place to top up your omega 3 with plenty of smoked salmon and herring smørrebrød (open rye bread sandwiches) as well as fill those new baby wardrobes with loads and loads of cute Scandi clothing. If you go before Christmas, you can also experience the magical markets.

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is a mere 3.5 h flight from the UAE, and it is the place to travel to if you want your fix of cycling through paddy fields, whale spotting and delicious curry-cooking. Whilst there treat your man to that surfing lesson he has always dreamt of.

Cyprus

Here the prices are reasonable, and so you can enjoy a luxury getaway without the guilt that you might be depriving you’re newborn of that fancy stroller. Avoid the party spots but soak in the food, the scenery and the ancient history.
