An Easy Way to Sanitize Your Kids’ Toys

An Easy Way to Sanitize Your Kids’ Toys

Every mum knows that her children’s toys are their most precious possession. They tag along wherever we go, day and night. All of our kids play with our toys, and carry them around at home, and anywhere else they go. Some even sleep with their favorite toy and it never leaves their side. So, it is very important to keep those toys clean and sanitized all the time. Here, you will learn how to efficiently and easily sanitize your kids’ toys at home.

Sanitize Your Kids’ Toys Easily

How often should you sanitize your kids’ toys?

That mainly depends on many factors including:

  • – How often do your kids play with their toys?
  • – Is your baby sick? Does he or she have the flu or any other contagious disease?
  • – The toy’s material.

Tips and tricks to disinfect toys

Plastic toys

Plastic toys should be cleaned and disinfected weekly. You can wash them in your kitchen sink or in your dishwasher. Either way, it is important to run warm water under it several times. That is to clean it well and wash away any leftover cleaning product. Finally, make sure to dry it very well before giving it back to your child.

Stuffed toys

Just like plastic toys, stuffed toys should be washed and sanitized weekly. Especially if your baby sleeps with it. Most stuffed toys come with washing instructions, so make sure you follow them. Also, you can throw them in the dryer or keep them in the sun to dry. You can also use a hair dryer, especially if it’s too delicate for the dryer… This way you will get rid of all germs and bacteria.

Video games

As for video games and consoles, make sure to use disinfectant wipes to clean them. You can also use Dettol’s Disinfectant Surface Spray once a week, or twice if your baby is ill.

Newborn baby toys

Newborn babies tend to drop or throw their toys a lot. So, those toys are always making contact with the floor. Also, babies tend to put everything in their little mouths, including their toys. Therefore, it is very important to sanitize those days every day or two. This will keep the toys clean, and your baby safe.

Is vinegar a good disinfectant for toys?

White vinegar is a great product to use for cleaning. Most homemade sprays or cleaners contain it. However, many experts believe that using it is ineffective when it comes to sanitizing your kids’ toys. So, it would be a waste of effort if you do.

Alternatively, we recommend using Dettol’s Antiseptic Liquid All Purpose Cleaner Trigger. Which is a gentle and effective, non bleach and no taint spray. It is very safe to use on and around your baby’s things including toys. In addition, you can always use disinfectant wipes for quick cleaning and sanitizing.
