The Duchess of Sussex has reportedly given birth to a healthy baby boy early this morning, 6th May 2019. The baby weighing 7lbs. 3oz
Meghan Markle, 37, and Prince Harry, 34, who married in May 2018, are said to be doing both very well and thanks the public for their support during this very exciting time. The name of the royal baby, who is seventh in line to the British throne, is yet to be announced. Prince Harry was reportedly at Meghan’s side throughout the birth.
As the nation waited expectantly for information in the months leading up to the birth, Buckingham Palace released an announcement stating that plans surrounding the baby’s arrival would be kept private. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from people throughout the United Kingdom and around the world as they prepare to welcome their baby,” read the statement. “Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private. The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”
Details of the birth plan and hospital were not shared publicly ahead of delivery like they were for Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. It was also suggested that Meghan would not likely pose for post-birth photographs outside of the maternity ward like Kate did after the birth of all three of her children.
The public have been speculating on what the Royal baby will be named, with many predicting family names such as James, Edward or Arthur for a boy. However, as Prince Harry and Meghan are modern, forward-thinking royals, they may choose a less-traditional name for their first child.
The new Royal baby will be the Queen’s eighth great-grandchild. Children of Harry and Meghan will be styled as Earl of Dumbarton. William and Kate’s children will hold the title of HRH and are to be styled as princes and princesses.
Meghan stepped back from royal engagements in April, ahead of giving birth. The pair moved into Frogmore Cottage in Windsor. It is understood that Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, 62, had flown over from Los Angeles to be present for the arrival.
At the beginning of April, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex launched their own Sussex Royal Instagram account, amassing 4.7 million followers in less than a month. While many hoped that pictures of the royal baby would be posted on the account, the pair have so far used the account to promote worthy causes and raise money for various charities.
We look forward to hearing more news about the latest arrival of the little royal, nothing like a new baby to put a smile on peoples faces.
