Nestlé Infant Formula Safety Update: What Parents Should Know, What Changed, and Why Current Products on Shelves Are Safe

Recent recall news around infant formula has understandably caused concern for many parents. When it comes to your child’s nutrition, clear and verified information matters.

Here is the key update: Nestlé products currently on shelves are checked, cleared for sale, and safe to use.

What happened

Earlier in January, Nestlé identified a quality concern linked to a specific ingredient supplied to the infant formula industry through its routine quality controls. Nestlé was the first company to identify the issue and the first to take action voluntarily, in coordination with authorities, to protect babies and reassure families.

As a precaution, Nestlé immediately:

  • investigated the issue,
  • traced the specific batches that could be affected,
  • recalled those batches from the market (including in our region),
  • and worked closely with local authorities with full transparency.

Because the ingredient was used across multiple manufacturers, the issue later became a broader industry topic.

What changed after the recall

Nestlé did not stop at the recall. Additional actions were taken to strengthen safeguards further, including:

  • stopping sourcing from the relevant supplier where needed,
  • expanding testing and verification steps,
  • and adding extra controls to reduce the chance of recurrence.

What parents need to know now

The affected batches were removed. Current Nestlé products on shelves, including NAN Kid and S-26 Gold 4 where available, have been checked and cleared for sale and safe use.

If your child is currently using NAN Kid or S-26 Gold 4 and is doing well, there is no need to switch based on headlines or social media noise alone.

How to verify:

For extra peace of mind:

  • use the Batch Checker to verify your tin’s batch code, and
  • Speak to your pediatrician if you have any specific questions about your child.

Nestlé’s approach remains the same: act early, act responsibly, and keep parents informed with transparency. For more information visit NAN Kid & S-26 Gold 4 Quality pages.
