Here are the golden rule to live by
Proper Sun Protection
- – Keep out of the sun between 10 am and 4 pm when the rays are the strongest.
- – Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before going outdoors; it needs time for it to be adequately absorbed.
- – Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours or after swimming or sweating or towel drying.
- – Use a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15. The additional benefits of using sunscreen with SPF 50+ are limited.
- – If an infant gets a sunburn, apply cool compresses to the affected area and if that results in blistering, pain or fever, contact your pediatrician.

Stay Hydrated
- – Always remember to drink plenty of fluids during the day.
- – Try to pack loads of fruits, vegetables and healthy snacks for your kids to munch.
Always store your snacks in insulated jars to keep them cold and fresh for more extended hours.
Dress Lightly
Summer days bring warmth, sunshine, and plenty of opportunities to play. Through it all, you want to make sure your little ones are both comfy and protected. Go for cotton fabrics, open toes and sun-blocking clothes such as hats, sunglasses and light colored t-shirts.
Plan for Extra Rest Time
Heat can often make children feel tired. Give them time to recover from any activity they are doing. Our tip is to invest in a baby tent. Why? Because it’s a necessity for shelter and shade! Try to find one that is easy to fold yet big enough to fit in it a small inflatable baby pool for when those UV rays peak mid-day, and add in a few bath toys to keep your baby happy and well entertained. Doing so also gives you time, mama, to relax and get a chance to enjoy your favorite book, music or podcast while your child is resting safely.
Cooling Off While Staying In
When your child is feeling hot, give him or her a long refreshing bath or water mist to cool down. Of course, the number one rule is to always keep an eye on your baby or toddler during that time. Tub play builds fine motor and sensory development by squeezing toys or sponges and learning to distinguish different temperatures.
If you have an outdoor area, swimming and water play are excellent options to cool off to limit screen time, so turn on the water hose, and bring on the fun.
