Get your kids involved with “Breast Cancer Awareness”

As a mum, I am sure you know someone who had an experience with breast cancer one way or another. Be it that they themselves were diagnosed or perhaps someone they care about. Sadly, it’s not uncommon, which is why it’s really important to help raise awareness this month and join the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign.

Involve your kids in Breast Cancer Awareness

It is never too early to get your kids behind a good cause, especially one that can (or perhaps already has) impact some of the fantastic women in their life. Of course, you want to ensure that you are engaging in age-appropriate activities and that it is meaningful for your child, but I urge you to give some of the below suggestions a try and show your children that you care about this important cause.

What can you do?

Here are a few ideas of things you can do with your kids on Breast Cancer Awareness month:

–  Create a card or picture to take to a local hospital that has a breast cancer ward. This will brighten someone’s day and let them know that you are thinking of them.

–  Wear a pink ribbon and talk with your child about the significance.

–  Have a day full of pink activities. Also, you can invite some mummy friends and their kids around to enjoy it with you. Have pink playdough, cupcakes, slime, pink lollipops, etc.

–  Find a local community walk or picnic and take your family along.

–  Make a ‘ten things I love about you’ book for a female that’s important in your life (for example, aunts, grandma, mum, sister).

–  Talk with your child about donating their pocket money for the month to a breast cancer support group or fundraiser.

–  Finally, you can ask your child for some ideas about what they could do and then, get busy doing them together. You will be surprised by what ideas your child has. Plus, it’s super lovely for them to have ownership over a special project.

And most importantly, take some time for you and your loved ones. We never know when life will throw us a curveball so make the most of the time you have together.
