How to Have a Good Time During the School Vacation

vacation help you slow down and recharge. Don’t let the good times slip by without having a good time. Bond better with your children by having a plan. Let these tips guide your way.

Children look forward to the school vacation. After all, it means no more school and plenty of free time. Parents may feel differently. While they want to make the most of their time together, it can get a bit chaotic if there is nothing planned. Let’s get that worry out of the way. Here is a handy list of things you can do.

Spend Time in Nature:

Choose a nearby botanical garden, a beach, or a farmhouse with a breathtaking view. Stock up your picnic basket with some yummy goodies, chips, hot dogs, lemonades, soda, fruits, salads and all the other things you love. Wear something comfortable depending on your picnic spot and you are set to go. Enjoy the drive to your location and once you reach, set up your picnic area and have a great time with your family outdoors.

Encourage Your Kids to Volunteer:

As a family, participate in a volunteer project. You can teach them about the satisfaction and happiness that comes from helping others. You can choose any age-appropriate activity like handing out care packages to folks on the street, joining a cleanliness drive, or rounding up supplies for animal shelter, etc. This is a very effective way of introducing good habits that will be useful later in life.

Plant Something:

Planting is not necessarily restricted to be an outdoor activity. Even if you live in an apartment, you can grow a container garden. The best plants that thrive in an indoor garden include parsley, chives, rosemary, and other culinary herbs. Place your pots by a window so it gets enough sunlight and water the plants daily. Let your kid witness the magic when the plant begins to grow. You may even be able to develop an interest in your kids for a new vegetable by planting it with them.

Bring Disco Home:

Kids are, of course, too young to be going to any discos so early on but that does not mean you can’t bring the disco to them. Dress up in your wacky outfits and organize a dance party for the family at home. Get lit to your favorite tracks and have an amazing time. You could also have dance-off competitions to add more zing to the party.

Play till You Drop:

Enjoy a game of basketball or other team sports with your family. Break into two teams and experience the adrenaline rush as you try to win. Or you could also play cricket in your backyard, whatever interests everybody. Playing a sport together is one of the many ways that your family can celebrate togetherness. It is truly magical when the youngest, the eldest and everyone in between share a common passion and enjoy themselves thoroughly.

Enjoy the Chores:

Take a trip to the supermarket or an outlet with your family. Let the kids have fun deciding what they want to wear and try on new outfits. If there are any occasions or events coming up, you can also let your kids help you in deciding what to give someone. They could also help you with any grocery shopping and pick up new food items that they would like to try at home. Shopping with your kids lets you learn more about their likes and dislikes, and is also a great way to spend time together.

Explore the City:

You can go with your kids to the nearby science museum they’ve always wanted to visit. Allow their friends to come along with you and add more to the excitement. You could also go check out the colorful fish in an aquarium near you or the local zoo. This is a great way to get to know your city and the various attractions it has to offer.

Travel Far & Wide:

You may have seen all the local attractions and now you wish to explore a new town. What to do then? You could go on an adventure filled trip to a location that suits the interests of you and your family.  Find a good location where you can try adventurous sports like hiking or boating with your kids. You can enjoy a wildlife safari by visiting a national park where you will get to be in touch with nature and absorb all that it has to offer. You could also plan on going on a short cruise or train ride if you like. There are just so many options to choose from; the list is endless once you set your mind to it.

Catch Up with Your Extended Family:

vacations are a good time to let your kids visit their grandparents and have a big get-together. Your kids could meet their cousins, share stories, and bond with them. Play games together, watch movies, explore the local area, read books, and just enjoy the company of your family. Share old photos and talk about the stories behind them. Don’t forget to click new ones and make more memories to take back home.

Watch A Family Movie Together:

You can rent a good family movie that all of you can sit together and enjoy watching. Shut the drapes and make the room dark for your very own home theatre experience. Make some popcorn, get some nachos and dip and you are all set. Discuss the scenes that you particularly liked. While movies at home are more relaxing and laid back, you can also go out to your nearby cinema if your kids want to watch a newer movie. The idea is to have fun and share quality time with each other, wherever it is.

Now you have enough ideas to try on your next break. Happy Holidaying!
