Your Guide to An Always Sanitized Home

Every mum wants a sanitized home that is both germ and bacteria free. And as mums, we need to make sure to use the right tools. Meaning tools that are safe, efficient, and leave no toxic fumes for us or our children to inhale. That is why we got you a full guide for a clean and sanitized home at all times. So, read more and learn all about those awesome tricks and hacks.

Hacks for an Always Sanitized Home

Make yourself a cleaning routine and stick to it.

Having a cleaning schedule makes your life easier. Instead of cleaning every room in one day – which will leave you exhausted. We suggest you have a schedule that you stick to. This cleaning routine will help you maintain a sanitized home that is also germ-free. In addition, if you live in the UAE, like Dubai or Abu Dhabi, you will get by easily during dusty weather.

Good ventilation is very important.

You probably know that living in the UAE means more humidity all year round. Rooms, like bathrooms and kitchens around our homes, need to be regularly aired and well ventilated. We recommend using fans, air hoods, and air purifiers. Using those gadgets will keep your home clean of debri, mold, and germs.

Ensure that your curtains and ceiling fans are clean.

Ceiling fans and curtains are usually a germ hotspot around your home. That is because we often forget about cleaning and disinfecting them. Many germs, dust, and viruses can easily collect in those spots. Therefore, we suggest cleaning them every two or three months. You can use a vacuum to both clean and disinfect them. In fact, getting those germ hotspots is just as important as cleaning sofas and coaches.

Having said that, we still believe a daily or weekly cleaning routine is important. That is why we recommend using Dettol’s Disinfectant Surface Spray. Especially when cleaning small gaps and all surfaces.

Do not forget about desks and mobile devices.

Other neglected bacteria hotspots are little devices that are used daily. Like keyboards and video game consoles. Cleaning those gadgets is even more crucial if you share them with the rest of your household.  So, ensure you always shake off your keyboard of dust and collected debri – especially if you eat while working. Also, use disinfectant wipes to clean them on the go and keep them sanitized. Lastly, you can use a microfiber towel with a disinfectant spray to fully sanitize them.

A closed toilet seat works wonders.

Toilets are a place where germs, bacteria, and viruses collect a lot. It is very important to clean them at least once a week. In addition, closing the toilet seat prevents those germs from spreading in the bathroom. So, urge and teach your family to always close it after using. This will keep your bathroom germ, bacteria, and virus free for longer periods of time.

Always give your shower curtains a shake.

A shower curtain is molds’ favorite place. It is wet and humid for it to collect. Shaking it daily, especially after showering helps prevent mold collecting. Also, make sure to use disinfecting sprays to get rid of any collected bacteria. This is one of the best hacks to keep your bathroom bacteria free.

Get different cutting boards to avoid germ spreading.

Raw meats can spread plenty of bacteria and germs like salmonella on cutting boards. And while cooking those meats kills all bacteria. Quickly washing those cutting boards does not always get rid of them. So, thoroughly cleaning your cutting boards is not always enough. So, to make sure you do not spread those germs, use a separate cutting board for raw meat.

Every toothbrush needs its own cap.

Leaving a toothbrush uncovered in the holder is not something we recommend. It is best to have covering caps for toothbrushes to keep them clean and germ-free. Also, make sure to place them in designated holders away from the rest of the things you keep on your sink.

Sponges need to be disinfected regularly.

Kitchen sponges gather a lot of germs and bacteria. Washing or rinsing them quickly will not rid sponges of those germs. This prevents having an actually clean and sanitary kitchen. The best way to clean kitchen sponges is to place them in a microwave for a couple of minutes or wash them in the dishwasher. But if you do the latter, make sure the temperature is high enough to kill all germs and bacteria.

Clean every filter inside your home.

Many home appliances that we use daily have filters. Those filters help cleaning dust, collecting debris, and purifying air. So, you need to regularly clean the filters on those appliances like a vacuum or an air hood. That is to keep the air clean and filtered rather than spreading more dust or germs.

Dettol is with you every step of the way!

For daily cleaning

Mix Dettol’s multi-use cleaner and disinfectant with water – 125 milliliters for every 2 liters of water. And use that to disinfect all surfaces and floors. This works great on all surfaces like wood, ceramic, and marble.

Dettol’s disinfectant spray is also great for daily cleaning. It will help you sanitize germ hotspots like remotes, toys, and other surfaces. Those sprays are both antibacterial and anti-allergic. So, they will keep you and your family safe and protected.

To sanitize and disinfect

To ensure a perfectly sanitized home, mix 125 milliliters of Dettol liquid with 1 liter of water. Use this mixture on all surfaces, and leave it on for approximately 5 minutes. Then, wipe it off using a microfiber cloth. This works great to disinfect bathrooms, kitchen countertops, sinks, and cutting boards.

For cleaning stubborn spots

Finally, use Dettol’s Antiseptic Liquid – without mixing – with a cleaning cloth. Rub out any stubborn spots on surfaces until they are nice and clean. You can apply this to dining tables and baby high chairs. Because when feeding kids, these two places are very easily stained.
