9 Toddler Activities When You Are Stuck at Home

If you’re stuck at home with your toddler with nowhere to go, you probably need to plan a few activities for the both of you to enjoy. Those activities are not just to entertain your little ones, but also to develop their senses and skills. We gathered up 9 toddler activities that you can do with easily at home.

Here are various fun toddler activities to enjoy when stuck at home:

1| Colored rice

In general, sensory games are great activities for toddlers. They are engaging, ageless, and they teach them responsibility to keep things clean and tidy. Playing with rice helps children with their motor skills, self control, and it is quite attractive.

Grab a zip lock bag, add a cup or rice to it and some food coloring. Leave it out to properly dry and then enjoy a rice sensory bin with your little ones! You can use a big bucket or plastic basket with some small shovels and containers.

2| Activity tables

Also called Sensory bins. These provide great mental and physical exercises for your toddler. You can either be creative and create your own games. Like getting Orbeez that are soaked and ready to play with. Or you can purchase an activity table that already includes various fun games and activities.

3| A parade

Parades are fun. Especially when you gather all your toddlers toys and put them in an organized line or on a trolley. Have your toddler parade all her or his toys all over the house. Play fun music and dance along. Then teach your little one how to put the toys away properly. Fun and educational, right?

4| Playdough

Playdough is a favorite activity by many children and mums. It is fun, shapeable, and colorful. The texture of the playdough intrigues children into creating whatever their imagination tells them. With playdough, you can leave shaping to the imagination, or you can set a challenge with your toddler to create a certain object, like an apple, a bed, or the sun.

5| Bricks and blocks

Or even Legos. They are all fun and engaging. Many parents swear by bricks, blocks, and Legos as they built their children’s mental and physical strengths.

6| Art projects

Be it painting, scrapbooking, or whatever crosses your mind. Unleash your toddler’s creativity and imagination through art projects. Lets face it, they probably won’t follow the project and will end up following their own rhythm. But that alone will be fun, educating, and will defiantly build up their self esteem and confidence.

7| Puzzles

Toddler puzzles are a great activity. It is the best way to start building up your toddler’s critical thinking, problem thinking, and eye-hand coordination. Puzzles are also endless as they are ageless. This could turn into an amazing bonding activity for your family.

8| Sticker line up

A sticker line up is also a fun and educating activity for your toddler. You can customize it as you want. Grab a piece of paper – any size you want, go big for longer hours. Draw a random line that goes up, down, around, and get a bunch of stickers. Have your toddler put the stickers on the line you drew and watch them have fun for hours!

9| Coloring on the walls

Calm down. It is not as bad as it sounds. All toddlers just have an urge to color on the walls, right? So why not prepare a part of one wall in your home for that. You can either turn it into a built in blackboard and get colorful chalk to go with it. Or just get a big piece of paper, stick it to the wall and let your kids go at it. The best part, your walls will remain clean, and your children will understand the idea of responsibility and boundaries.
