How to Plan the Perfect Study Room for Your Kids?

In time for back to school, mums think about many things. Such as buying school supplies, school clothes, and preparing their little ones for going back to school. And with all that, comes school work and homework. We believe that kids need a perfect environment at home to encourage them to do their homework. And by the perfect environment, we mean the perfect study room designated for school work and doing their homework. Learn here how to plan a perfect study room, or a simple study corner. 

Planning the Perfect Study Room for you Kids

When it comes to planning the perfect study room, it all starts with having the perfect furniture. Here is everything you need to create a perfect space for studying and doing homework. 

1| A desk 

First, and most important, your children will need a desk to study on. Whether they are preschoolers, middle schoolers, or high school students. A desk is essential to do school work and homework. Do not rely on other tables, like dining tables, for doing homework. Because it might distract your kids from studying. Having a designated desk for studying will help your children focus and excel academically

2| Book organizers 

A book organizer helps your kids keep their books, notebooks, and school workbooks organized. Organizing them in a bookcase will keep your kids’ study room tidy and clean. Thus helping them to focus and do their homework. There are many options for book organizers in all shapes, sizes, colors to fit all ages.

3| Lighting 

Make sure your children’s study room or study corner is well lit. Bad lighting will bother their eyes and affect their eyesight. So, make sure the lighting is perfect – not too dim, nor too bright.

4| Arts and crafts corner 

A study room can also be a place for creativity and getting a little artsy. You can either get a table with chairs for fun art time, or get an easel for your little artist. 

5| Painting and decorating

It is important to have a room that is painted and decorated well. Keep in mind that it should be a place to focus, not to be distracted. The best paint colors for a study environment are off-white, lemon yellow, light blue, and minty green. Those colors help little learners stay alert and focused. As for decorations, you can pick cute little wall decorations with your kids. But make sure they are not too distracting. Such decorations can be small teddy bears, plants, your children’s drawings, or a fun wall clock. 

6| Calendars and event planners 

Even us adults can sometimes forget important events. Therefore, it is important to have a calendar with all your child’s important events. Such as school field trips, exams, and assignment dates. This calendar can also have day to day necessities, such as when to pack gym clothes or other school related things.

7| Stationary organizers

You need to help your kids keep their study room, corner, or desk neat and tidy. A stationary organizer helps greatly in doing so. With the perfect stationary organizer, your kids will keep their pens, pencils, sticky notes, and highlighters in one place. 

8| Educational toys 

As we mentioned before, a study room can be a place for some educational fun. Get a couple educational toys to boost your kids skills and help them enjoy learning about new things.

9| Comfortable chairs

Older kids spend hours studying and doing homework. Spending hours sitting on an uncomfortable chair can lead to back and neck pains. And while you can avoid that with a good comfortable chair. Discuss with your kids that it is important to get up, walk around, and stretch every 30-45 minutes. 

10| A white board 

Some parents love to add a white board to their kids’ study rooms. It can help them study, they can use it to draw and take a quick break from homework. And also, it can very useful for private tutoring

11| A drawer cabinet 

Finally, if your bookcase does not have drawers, get a separate drawer cabinet. It will come in very handy in keeping the room tidy, near, and clean. Your kids can store their art supplies, books, toys, and much more.
