Best Hair Masks you Can Try at Home

Caring for your hair is important to keep it shiny and healthy. Prepacked hair masks can work wonders, and for many mums they are their “to go to”. But every now and then, we all like to make something ourselves to ensure that there are no chemicals that will do more harm than good. Try one of those hair masks at home and let us know what you think! 

First of all, there are a few pointers you need to keep in mind. Including: 

  • – knowing your hair type.
  • – washing it as it needs – every 2 days and or once a week.
  • – don’t wash it with hot water, but rather lukewarm water.
  • – brush it while it is wet using a comb starting from the trip and gradually going up. 

After considering these essential tips, let us move into making perfect homemade hair masks! 

1| Avocado and mayonnaise 

Mash half an avocado with a cup of mayonnaise and apply it to your roots and hair tips. Cover your hair with a cap for an hour and then wash it thoroughly. 

Avocados are great to nourish your hair. It is a great source of biotin, vitamin B and healthy oils to revive your hair. Mayonnaise also includes plenty of oils that eliminate split ends and friction. 

2| Honey mask 

We all know that honey is a cure for all. Mix up equal parts of honey and whatever shampoo you use and wash your hair with it. Washing your scalp and hair with honey is very excellent as it contains antioxidant properties that prevent damage, keeping them healthy.

3| Eggs and honey

We already agree how good honey is for your hair. But did you know that eggs are just as good if not better? Eggs are a rich source of proteins, amino acids, minerals, and vitamins. This combination is extremely nourishing for your hair and it keeps it strong and healthy.

Here’s what you’ll need: 

  • – 1 egg
  • – a teaspoon of honey 
  • – 1 teaspoon of any hair cream or conditioner
  • – a teaspoon of olive oil 

Mix the ingredients all together until they form a smooth and thick texture. Apply it to your scalp and hair and leave it until it dries completely. Wash your hair with cold water and shampoo and enjoy the immediate result! 

4| Just Banana

Bananas are great for hair growth and nourishment. They are a great source of vitamins, calcium, potassium, and natural oils that your hair needs. Using this mask once a week will promote shimmy, skily, and healthy hair. It will also reduce hair fall and eliminate dandruff. 

All you need to do is mash one banana, or more depending on your hair length. Massage your scalp and hair with the banana and leave it for an hour. It is best to wash your hair with lukewarm water for best results. 

5| Olive oil and lemon juice 

Olive oil is almost in every produced hair product. It tame and moisturizes hair along with ridding it from bacteria or dandruff. Mix equal parts, preferably 2 tablespoons, of olive oil, lemon juice and water. 

Apply it and massage it thoroughly through your hair. Then let it set for 20 minutes. Wash your hair with cold water and shampoo and you’ll instantly notice the change in your hair. 

This mask is applied once a week for the best results. 

6| Strawberries 

Strawberries are great for smoothly exfoliating your scalp and rid it of all unnecessary oils. Here’s what you’ll need: 

  • – 5-7  fresh strawberries, depending on your hair.
  • – 1 tablespoons of honey 
  • – 1 tablespoons of coconut oil

What to do? 

Blend in the ingredients till they make a nice and smooth paste. Apply it to your hair for 15 minutes. This is one of the best masks for greasy hair type. If your hair is more dry, we recommend adding hair cream or conditioner for moisturization. 

7| Apple Cider Vinegar mask 

Apple cider vinegar works wonders when it comes to cleansing the scalp. Mix ¼ a cup of warm water with the same amount of apple cider vinegar and 6-7 drops of any preferred oil. You can use tea tree oil, coconut oil, or argan oil. 

Once mixed all together, pour it into a spray bottle and add crushed aspirin to it. Apply it to your hair and leave it for 30 minutes before washing your hair as always. Don’t worry about the vinegar scent, it’ll be gone once you wash your hair with shampoo.
