How to Get Back to Your Sleep Routine After Vacation?

How to Get Back to Your Sleep Routine After Vacation?

After a long and fun summer vacation, many mums face the same challenge. That is to maintain their little ones’ sleeping routine during this vacation and after it. It can be a little hard, especially if you’re travelling and staying up late. But it is not impossible. Here are some tips that will help you get back your children’s sleep routine after vacation.

How to get back to your sleep routine after vacation?

It takes five simple steps:

1| Explain it to your children

You need to explain to your kids the difference between a vacation and daily life. Do this with the help of your spouse in order to have a strong front. The two of you must work together in order to maintain your kids’ sleeping routine. It is very important to help children understand the idea of a sleep schedule and how necessary it is.

2| Plan every day well

When you set up a sleep schedule for your children, avoid staying up too late or waking up too early. This will help them rest at night time and get the amount of sleep they need. Fill your days with fun and energetic activities. This way, your kids won’t be bored and filled with energy that won’t let them sleep. In fact, planning activities that they put their energy into will ensure a good night’s sleep later.

3| Be strict about it

It is very possible that you will face many objections and pleas from your kids to change their sleep schedule. Stay put, and take a stand. You need to let them know that a sleep schedule is so important. That is why step number 1 is so essential.

4| Spend time with your kids during the day

Many kids resist going to bed by asking for another story or spending more time with you. They might also ask for you or their father to sleep next to them. The best way to solve this is to spend enough time with them during the day. Talk to them during the day, read together, and maybe play together or do a puzzle. These activities will provide them with the care and attention they need that might disrupt their sleep time.

5| Be realistic not a perfectionist

It is not an easy task – keep that in mind. It will take some time to get it right, and that is fine. Going back to a certain sleep schedule might take some effort but it will eventually happen. Keep thinking this way instead of achieving it all in one day and you will do great.
